About Her
Meet Barbara F. Olschner
I grew up in a wonderful time and place — eastern NC in the 1950’s and 1960’s. My parents were children of the depression and later, the fabric of “The Greatest Generation.”
The values they held close and taught me were the same in every house in town — honor, truth, honesty and love of country. They believed in independence, hard work, plain dealing, and common sense.
My father was an old-fashioned country lawyer. My mother was a homemaker who also ran a small business, an Antique Store called “The Keeping Room.” I learned about business from my mother and, from my father, respect for the “rule of law.” My father is gone now but my feisty mother is the youngest 91 year old mom in the country.
I graduated from St. Mary’s Jr. College in Raleigh, N.C., and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte with a Bachelor in Creative Arts.
For the next seven years, I played professional tennis on The Avon Futures Circuit. I became, and remain today, a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association. I’ve enjoyed teaching tennis and coaching the Women’s Tennis Team at East Carolina University. Today I still volunteer and coach young tennis players to keep them interested in the “Sport for a Lifetime.” Nothing renews your faith in this country like watching young Americans achieve their best.
When my professional athletic career drew to a close, I attended Cumberland Law School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama — the tenth oldest law school in the country. It’s where my father received his law degree.
Birmingham became my home. That’s where I founded and managed the law firm of Olschner & Hart, which grew into a business employing over 30 people. In 1977, I fell in love with Santa Rosa Beach and started making my home there. Today, I still handle complex litigation throughout the country. And after 26 years in the American system of justice, my faith in the American people to do the right thing is undimmed.
I’ve run a small business. I know the burdens and obligations placed on job makers and how vital entrepreneurs are to our economy. I know what it’s like to meet a payroll. I know what built the American Dream because, everyday, I am blessed to wake up to it.
Now I’m concerned that the opportunities we’ve been given are being diminished. Too many folks in Washington have lost touch with the people they work for. They seem to make decisions that are good for their political careers but not for our country. They’ve forgotten who we are, what we believe and the values that are important to us. It’s time to remind them what we really want: We want our country to be safe, our families to be strong, our budget to be balanced and our economy to lead the world.
This is our country. Each of us has a responsibility to keep it safe and strong and free. That’s why I’m running for Congress.
I’m Barbara Olschner and hope you will take this journey with me to change the way Washington works.
Testimonials
“Let’s get some sense and responsibility back in Washington. We need someone who will listen to the people they represent. Someone who will help put this country back on the true cause, envisioned by our founding fathers and laid out in our constitution. Someone who is not a career politician seeking only multiple re-elections. Barbara Olschner is that someone. Let’s send her to Washington to represent all of us in Florida District 2. She’ll be great!”

“We must stop the the massive spending and entitlement expansion led by self-serving politicians that is destroying America and placing an insurmountable debt upon our children’s backs. We must put Barbara Olschner in Congress and boot Boyd out. A vote for Boyd is a vote for Obama and his liberal agenda. Barbara is our BEST candidate and our clear choice to represent those of us who value low taxes, balanced budgets, strong national defense, and the belief that government should be limited in both size and scope. It is up to US to support Barbara and put her in Congress for Florida District 2.”

“I am a Democrat and I am supporting Barbara Olschner, a Republican. It’s time in America to begin to find the issues we can agree on as Americans not just as Democrats and Republicans. We won’t always agree, but I know Barbara will listen and work to find the common ground needed to move America forward. I’ve known Barbara for 10 years and she is a person of strong conviction, integrity and an independent thinker. Join me, let’s send a fresh voice to Washington to speak for us: Barbara Olschner”
